We look forward to seeing you tonight for a Ribbon Cutting ceremony to celebrate the Literacy Volunteers of Otsego & Delaware Counties new office space!
The ribbon will be cut at 5:30 PM on February 26, 2014 and an open house with food and refreshments will follow.

The LVODC has dedicated over 20 years to helping those in need to overcome obstacles involving basic literacy in the area. By giving the LVODC a fresh welcome to their new office, we can show our support of an organization that has done so much to empower parents, sons, & daughters into being productive members of our society. Their hard work in this area has been a fantastic contribution to making our community a better place.

Leadership Otsego Now Accepting Applications for Spring 2014 Class

February 25, 2014, ONEONTA, New York: The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Executive Service Corp is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2014 class of Leadership Otsego. Leadership Otsego was started in 1997 by the Future for Oneonta Foundation, Hartwick College, The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, SUNY Oneonta and United Way of Delaware & Otsego Counties.

Offered through the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Otsego kicks off on Wednesday, March 5th with an information night at Stella Luna and will begin meeting one full Wednesday each month starting in April for 6 months. The curriculum teaches area residents and workers about leadership concepts and skills using discussions with people across the county.

Participants have the opportunity to build their personal networks as well as understanding of local challenges and opportunities by interacting with numerous presenters.  Since its start in 1997, Leadership Otsego participants have heard from nearly 150 area experts.

Numerous Community leaders will be covering topics to include Commerce and Trade, Education, Healthcare, Government, and Leadership.

Applicants range from entry-level managers to top administrators, from newcomers finding their way to long-time residents rediscovering the area, from young adults just starting out to empty-nesters and retirees, from those who call Otsego towns “home” to commuters along the county line.

Leadership Otsego alumni represent a variety of ages, occupations, employers, interests, and hometowns throughout the county.

The kick off dinner will take place at Stella Luna on a Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 6:00p.m.. Reservations are required. Application Deadline is April 1st.

The Business Advocacy and Public Policy Committee of The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, invite you to join fellow business leaders this Friday, February 28, 2014 at 8:00a.m.-9:30a.m. at The Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center in the Production Room for a cup of coffee and to share in a dialogue,  as we gather to have business leaders sign up to attend Small Business Day at the Capitol in Albany on March 12, 2014. A representative from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance to share legislatives priorities.  If you cannot attend the March 12 Small Business Day, The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance on behalf of our members on March 12and we will have our collective voice to let lawmakers know how proposed laws will impact the future of businesses in Otsego County.

LUNCH FREE while LEARNING about NYSERDA Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs

 

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce and Mohawk Valley EDGE invite you to a  FREE “Lunch & Learn” event  to be held at noon on Thursday, March 6th at Alfresco’s Italian Bistro, 26 W. Main Street in Oneonta.   While lunching on Alfresco’s pizza and salad,  you’ll be provided with an overview of NYSERDA’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs.  

 

NYSERDA offers an extensive array of energy efficiency incentive programs for businesses, organizations, municipalities, home owners, etc.   Mark Kaucher, vice-president of Mohawk Valley EDGE,  representing the New York State Economic Development Council as a NYSERDA EDGE Regional Outreach Contractor (ROC), will provide guidance as to which programs might fit with the needs of your particular business, and also how best to access them.

 

You’ll especially want to attend if you are contemplating any new investments at your place of business and aim to minimize energy-related expenses and maximize return on investment.
