New Cheese Vendor at the Oneonta Farmers’ Market

The Oneonta Farmers’ Market welcomes new vendor, Sherman Hill Farmstead, offering locally-made cow and goat’s milk cheeses. Sherman Hill Farmstead’s cheese varieties include feta, spreadable herb-infused chevre, semi-soft and firm goats’ milk cheese, and camembert. Cows’ milk cheeses include horseradish, chives and garlic or cranberry walnut-flavored spreadable cheese, ‘fresh and firm’ mozzarella style cheese and aged cheese, great for cooking, snacking or grating.  Visit the Sherman Hill Farmstead booth this Saturday to sample cheeses and learn about the cheese making process.  Also new at the market this year, Big Sky Farm offers heirloom and unusual varieties of seedlings such as Italian tomato, hot peppers, sweet peppers, lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, basil, cilantro, chamomile, and annuals. Spring season produce available at the market this week includes asparagus, spinach, Swiss chard, mushrooms, parsnips, kale, arugula, and fresh herbs. In addition to fresh produce, Hellers’ Farm will have their own locally-grown out-of-season fruits and vegetables, including storage potatoes, carrots, turnips, beets and apples, plus frozen corn, green beans and blueberries. Market vendors will also have an array of beautiful hanging baskets, meat, poultry, eggs, baked goods, maple products, preserves, and prepared foods and sauces.

Live music is from 10 am-12 noon with Blue Dog Night, a local duo playing a foot-stomping repertoire of blues, Americana and acoustic R&B tunes. Feel free to bring a lawn chair.

The Oneonta Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday throughout the season from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at Oneonta’s Main Street Plaza under the white canopies right in front of the Clarion Hotel. Rain or shine! For more information call 607-437-0158, visit www.OneontaFarmersMarket.com, or ‘like’ us on facebook.
