[Enews] Greater Oneonta Small Meetings and Conference Coalition-Tour This Monday

Dear Members,

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Oneonta Small Meetings and Conference Coalition are partnering to promote the Oneonta area to professional meeting planners throughout this region and New York State. Please share this information with your event planners or Human Resource Directors that coordinate conferences for associations or boards you serve on. See attached promotional sheet to share with your collegues.

Members of the Coalition – four major hotels and Oneonta’s performing arts center as the meeting venue – are working together to develop and coordinate the meeting “product” for small conferences of up to 500 people. The Chamber is providing a single point of contact for the Coalition, marketing the assets and working with area attractions to create a broad Oneonta-area experience for conference attendees.

Oneonta’s location on I-88 mid-way between Albany and Binghamton is a prime asset. Utica is equidistant, also only an hour’s drive.

The Greater Oneonta Area has 500 conveniently-located modern hotels rooms at the Clarion Hotel in the downtown area; Courtyard by Marriott and Holiday Inn Oneonta at Southside; and the Hampton Inn on River Street. At the center of it all is Foothill Performing Arts and Civic Center, a unique, modern building with 29,500 square feet of meeting space, breakout rooms that can accommodate 400 – 500 people.

Meeting attendees can enjoy downtown Oneonta’s boutique shopping and sidewalk cafes, or Southside’s wide selection of big brand stores, as well as more fine dining options. For evening or spousal events, Cooperstown’s attractions are just 30 minutes north of Oneonta.

The economic impact of hosting conferences is significant for the city, town and county. The Chamber-Coalition partnership is a win-win for everyone.

To that end, we would like to invite you to visit us on November 3, from 9 am to 12 noon, starting at Foothills Performing Arts Center (22 Market Street) at 9 am. Doughnuts and Cider from the Fly Creek Cider Mill will be offered.  A staff person will be available at each site to give you a tour of their facility and speak more about this collaborative effort to increase tourism in the Greater Oneonta area. OPT Bus will be taking us on a tour of the hotels.  To sweeten the pot, we’re offering a drawing to win a two-night stay at the hotel of your choice, along with two three-way Cooperstown museum passes. Visit all five locations – the Clarion, Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn and Foothills – make sure you give your guide your business card – to register to win.

We look forward to working with your business as we move forward. Keep Oneonta in mind if you attend conferences in other areas – we can do a superb job of hosting them right here!!!

Please RSVP by Friday, October 31, 2014 to Barbara Ann Heegan at(607) 432-4500 ext. 202 or by emailing baheegan@otsego.ccom by the close of business. Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you Monday! It will be a fun morning!
