Chili Bowl Fundraiser

We’re gearing up for our 11th annual Chili Bowl Fundraiser coming up on February 1st, 2015. This is a culinary challenge for amateur and professional chefs, as well as a creative showcase for area potters, artists, and bowl-decorating enthusiasts. The purchase of a “chili bowl” is your ticket to sample the wares of the chili cook-off contestants. Proceeds from your purchase will be used for the maintenance of CANO’s Wilber Mansion, as well as for art scholarships to Carriage House Art Studio. Presented by the Oneonta City Commission on Community Relations and Human Rights

 

In honor of Women’s History month, this award recognizes a woman in the Oneonta Area who, by demonstrating outstanding achievement in her field or in the community, has enhanced the visibility and stature of women.   A Trailblazer is defined as one who has opened the pathways for others to follow: a pioneer; a forerunner; a trail breaker; a mover and shaker.

In honor of Women’s History month, the Trailblazer Award recognizes a woman in the Oneonta Area who, by demonstrating outstanding achievement in her field or in the community, has enhanced the visibility and stature of women.

A Trailblazer is defined as one who has opened the pathways for others to follow: a pioneer; a forerunner; a trail breaker; a mover and shaker.

 

Awards will be given in two categories:  Ages 25 and under; and over 25.

To nominate an individual, please submit any and all of the following that apply:

 

  1. Role Model Statement  (100 words or less)

In what manner has the nominee served as a role model for other women in her chosen profession or Community Service?

 

  1. Outstanding Achievements and/or Accomplishments (in particular, citing any “firsts” the nominee can claim)

 

  1. Professional Statement (250 words or less)
  2. How has the nominee uniquely contributed to the development and success of her profession and the organization within which she works?  How has she demonstrated initiative and leadership qualities within her profession?

 

  1. Community Service Statement (250 words or less)

The Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York, has announced its schedule of ten new exhibitions running April 1 through December 31, 2015.  The season is filled with exceptional works of art presented through a variety of intriguing curations.  Exhibitions highlight well-known artists such as Marc Chagall, Maxfield Parrish, Raymond Han, Steven Skollar, as well as masterpieces in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the world-renowned Eugene and Clare Thaw Collection of American Indian Art at the Fenimore Art Museum.

The season opens with six exhibitions including Marc Chagall’s Magic Flute: Highlights from the Metropolitan Opera (April 1 – December 31), 50 at 20: Masterpieces of American Indian Art from the Thaw Collection (April 1 – December 31), andColorama (April 1 – June 21).

The summer season is highlighted by Maxfield Parrish: The Art of Light and Illusion (May 23 – September 7), Raymond Han: Still Lifes and Figures (June 20 – December 31), and Real and Imagined: The Paintings of Steven Skollar (April 1 – December 31)

Other 2015 exhibitions include Photographs by Brenda Mitten: The 10th Contemporary Iroquois Art Biennial (April 1 – June 7), Autopsy for a Nation: The Death of Abraham Lincoln (April 1 – December 31), Lavern Kelley: The Art of the Farm(September 19 – December 31), and our fall folk art related exhibit “A Perfect Likeness”: Folk Portraits and Early Photography (October 3 – December 31).
