Dear Members,

The twinkling lights are up at the Otsego County Chamber office at 189 Main Street Suite 201 from our digital LED motion sign with the time, temperature and Holiday Cheer!

Santa’s House in Muller Plaza is filled with children awaiting to tell Santa their wish list!

Local main street stores are stocked, please think local first and shop local!

Before the shoppers

Descend upon our town, city and county

We offer up this Chamber toast

So pass your cups around of hot chocolate we offer to any member or potential new member that stops in.

First, to our dearest members

To you a prosperous new year

With your renewed support

Our Chamber has nothing to fear

Next, board – staff – and volunteers

We wish you peaceful rest

You’ve earned it because this past year

You’ve given us your best

And as for all our sponsors

A special Yule salute

The dollars you provide us

Allow our programs to bear fruit

And finally to our shopping guests

Who travel far and wide

You boost our local economy

And enhance our Chamber pride

The Chamber staff commends you all

Because, you see, we feel

You’ve kept the Chamber flourishing

With your hard work and your zeal

A great Chamber and community

Is reason enough to boast

So raise your cups to the Holidays

With this special Chamber toast!

Onward, with dreams of peace, joy and happiness for a prosperous 2015! Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa!

Your Otsego County Chamber President & CEO

Barbara Ann Heegan

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is ready to kick off in its first YEA! class in Otsego County! We are thrilled to be introducing this exciting new program, developing middle and high school students into the next business leaders here in the Oneonta area.

The Otsego Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Hartwick College to bring this nationally successful program to our area. There are numerous ways for our local business leaders to get involved in this youth education program, but first here’s a brief description of what YEA! is:

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a groundbreaking and exciting year long class that transforms middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Throughout the class, students develop business ideas, write business plans, conduct market research, pitch their plans to a panel of investors, and actually launch and run their own real, legal, fully formed companies and social movements. Complete with dynamic guest speakers from the local business community and exciting behind-the-scenes trips to local companies, the fun, projects-based YEA! approach empowers students to take charge of their futures in a profound way.

Founded in 2004 at the University of Rochester with support from the Kauffman Foundation, the Young Entrepreneurs Academy today serves thousands of students in communities across America. In 2011, the United States Chamber of Commerce and Campaign for Free Enterprise became a national sponsor and partner of the Academy to help celebrate the spirit of enterprise among today’s youth and tomorrow’s future leaders.

We are more than excited to revive the spirit of entrepreneurship in Otsego County for young students! Classes begin this January, and we are still recruiting business leaders, like yourself, to get involved in the YEA! program as guest speakers, business mentors, field trip hosts, and a variety of additional opportunities.

For more information on the YEA! program and how you can get involved, contact Barbara Ann Heegan at 607-432-4500 x202 or [email protected]
