Tethered Balloon Rides over Otsego Lake Featured at the Annual Benefit Gala for The Farmers’ Museum and NYSHA on July 19 A tethered hot air balloon lifts riders above the tree line, offering spectacular views and vistas of Otsego Lake. This elevating experience is part of “Otsego on the Hudson,” the Annual Benefit Gala for the New York State Historical Association and The Farmers’ Museum on Friday, July 19, at 6:30 pm.
A celebration of both museums’ vistas, views, and visions, the Gala is inspired by the Fenimore Art Museum’s exhibition The Hudson River School: Nature and the American Vision. Enjoy a fun and special night out by enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the Fenimore’s lakeshore lawn and a gourmet dinner under a beautiful sail tent. The evening’s entertainment also includes croquet and badminton on the lawn, live music, and tours of Otsego: A Meeting Place, the interactive, outdoor exhibition that explores the lives and culture of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people. This unique program is one example of the difference supporters and attendees of the Gala make at the museums.
The Gala also features live and silent auctions. Auction items can be previewed on the gala webpage at FenimoreArtMuseum.org/gala. A Sky Lantern Finale is the perfect ending to this wonderful evening.
Proceeds raised from the Gala benefit educational programs at The Farmers Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, and New York State Historical Association.
Gala tickets are still available for $175 each. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call (607) 547-1433 or email j.kendrick@nysha.org.
