Dear Members,
FARM TO TABLE- The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce and many other local entities are recognizing the economic-development potential in artisanal food and beverages,” said Jim Kevlin, Hometown Oneonta and Freeman’s Journal publisher. “The idea of the our ‘Farm to Table’ booklet is to help spread the word on this exciting new sector.”
He pointed out that Rebecca Morgan, CADE executive director, has reported there is a $1 billion unmet demand in New York City alone for natural farm products, and Otsego County, just three and a half hours away, is perfectly situated to help meet that demand.
More good news is that many local restaurants and groceries are already offering “Farm to Table” products, and we who live here can take advantage of that right away, said Kevlin. “I hope everyone in the county will look at our new booklet, and patronize the establishments on the cutting edge of this initiative,” he said.

The Cornell Master Gardener Volunteer Program is a public service program that provides training to volunteers to serve their communities through horticulture, gardening, and pest management. Volunteers participate in a series of science-based educational sessions that include many aspects of horticulture and related topics. In return for this training, volunteers assist local Cornell Cooperative Extension personnel in providing outreach education and information. Many volunteers address home-gardening questions while others participate in community gardening projects, educational workshops, and annual plant sales.
Cornell Cooperative Extension provides equal program and employment opportunities. Accommodations for this training for persons with special needs may be requested by contacting Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties by August 15.
