Boutique Features Handmade Local Gifts

More Art Space (MAS) and Pop Shop Oneonta are collaborating to present the 1st annual Holiday Pop Shop Boutique.  A kickoff party is scheduled forSaturday, November 21 from 5 to 8 pm at MAS, 77 Main Street in Oneonta.  The artisan boutique will run through December 21.

According to organizers, the Pop Shop Boutique offers a carefully curated selection of handmade items created by over twenty makers from Oneonta and the upper Catskill region.  Gift items include clothing and textiles; house wares and ceramics; natural toiletries and cosmetics; jewelry; fine art; holiday cards and more.

“Our goal is to provide a downtown shopping destination where locals can find beautifully crafted, unique gifts for every age demographic.  We’re a fresh and hip artisan boutique that represents work by emerging artists and makers, as well as more established crafters.” says Hope Von Stengel, Pop Shop coordinator.

Von Stengel says, she and several other “crafty ladies” volunteer their time to coordinate Pop Shop events as a way to advocate for the handmade movement and to support the local economy.  She adds that organizers want to “create an environment that benefits regional artisans and actively engages the community in the arts.”

Several special events will also take place at MAS during the boutique.  The Pop Shop organizers encourage people to visit their website regularly to see what else might “pop up” at the Pop Shop Boutique.

For boutique hours and other details, visit www.PopShopOneonta.com, www.facebook.com/PopShopOneonta or contact MAS at 607-353-0291.
