The City of Oneonta is applying for grant assistance through the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) 2018 Aviation Capital Grant Program for the purposes of replacing the airport’s existing aircraft fuel farm with two new 12,000 gallon tanks; one for Jet A, and one for Av Gas, in a new location remote from the terminal building. This equipment and improvements would provide the airport with the capability to fuel small and business-jet aircraft safely, efficiently and quickly, representing large steps toward making the Airport an economically self-sustaining asset for the City of Oneonta and Otsego County. In addition the existing undreground tanks are at nearing the end of their useful life and will eventual pose an evironmental risk.
At this time, we are respectfully requesting a letter addressed to Mr. Gerardo Mendoza at New York State DOT supporting this project. Supporting documentation such as the requested letter would substantially improve the City’s chance of receiving this grant, and thus provide tremendous economic benefit to the Airport, the City, and Otsego County area, through increased aircraft fuel sales and increased economic activity outside the airport.
Should you be willing to provide such a letter, please understand that time is of the essence, as applications are due on Friday, June 29, 2018. I have attached a sample letter of support for your use that can be added to business letterhead. Please send letter back to Barbara Ann Heegan via e-mail info@otsegocc.com no later then Wednesday June 27, 2018.
We sincerely appreciate your assistance with this matter. Should you have questions or require any further information, please feel free to contact the airport’s engineering consultant, Turner Bradford, of McFarland Johnson, 518-580-9380.
