Fwd: [Enews] Interns of Year Chamber Award announced for Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta Students

Dear Members,

The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce today our 2019 Intern of the Year Awards sponsored by NBT Insurance Agency. We are thrilled to recognize the contributions of two students. Both young people exemplify the hands-on work, training and skill building that will make them highly successful employees as they prepare to enter the workforce. The Chamber has been hosting this award for the past 4 years as a way to raise awareness of the talent of college students from Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta along with recognizing the businesses that have hosted the talent of these individuals.

  • Caitlyn Herilhy is the recipient of the Hartwick College 2019 Intern of the Year Award. Nominated by Kevin Gray, Manager of Arts Education, Fenimore Art Museum.  During her role in making a difference in providing meaningful support both behind the scenes and in front with the public, Caitlyn quickly became familiar with exhibitions and collections including American folk art, Native American art and objects, photography, and the 19th century American fine art in order for her to complete her assigned tasks. Caitlyn assisted with the facilitation of public educational programs including Food for Thought, a lunch and lecture series, as well as a special series of children’s programs done in conjunction with the Clark Sports Center in which she developed and led some activities. Caitlyn also conducted research for what proved to become one of Fenimore Art Museum’s most popular new fall programs, Art in the Dark.

  • Jared Ciccarelli is the recipient of the SUNY Oneonta 2019 Intern of the Year Award. He was nominated by Michelle Catan of the Small Business Development Center in Oneonta. During this internship, Jared assisted clients in the preparation of the business plans and financial projections for their business ventures. In addition he assisted the SBDC to organize and coordinate a Small Business Saturday Event, SBDC State training and participated in meetings concerning the establishment of the SUNY Oneonta Innovation Center, met with newly elected Congressman Antonio Delgado and Senator James Seward and was given numerous research assignments to learn about the business industry he was meeting with. Jared participated in the Fed Challenge Team at SUNY Oneonta as well as Backpacks to Briefcase.

The award winners will be honored at the Chamber’s Small Business Banquet “Ignite the Fire of Entrepreneurial Spirit” that will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at The Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown. Cocktail reception with cash bar begins at 5:45 p.m. with live music. Guests will enjoy a harvest of culinary delights at 7:00p.m. including turkey and all the trimmings. Your invitation is attached to join us in celebrating our award winners. There are also congratulatory ads attached to share good wishes to our honored guest.  I look forward to seeing you at this spectacular event.
