December 24, 2020
Dear Chamber Members,
I felt it important to send a letter prior to my new position as Interim President and CEO of The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce which begins officially on December 28th. Barbara Ann, after giving her notice only two weeks ago, has been connecting me with so many vital people to help keep us on track and relevant in helping to form the economic landscape here in Otsego County. Her guidance and continued support through this transition is greatly appreciated.
I thank you all for your vote of confidence to lead us through these uncertain times and allow us to get on solid footing to assist in making a methodical search for a new President and CEO. I want to take this opportunity in my interim role, to review our strategic plan to ensure that it meets the needs of our members due to the impacts of COVID 19, and what we project will be our member needs post pandemic.
My interim role is most importantly focused on the continuity of what was accomplished under Barbara Ann Heegan’s leadership, and ensuring our members are confident that they have a strong voice advocating for their needs now and into the future!
As board chair over the last two years my commitment and engagement related to politics and policy has been and will continue to put us at the forefront of key decisions made by our elected officials.
Strengthening relationships with our elected officials, economic partners, colleges, along with business and community leaders will be a top priority.
Chamber involvement in energy, infrastructure, workforce development, tourism, and helping existing businesses to be sustainable and expand will continue without disruption. Continuous work to attract all forms of business will remain intact and our relevance will be key to achieve this success.
I am excited to be working with our Executive Board, committed board members, committee chairs, and overall membership to creatively and collaboratively move Otsego County forward.
I kindly ask for your participation in The State of the State event, our first major virtual event of the year on the 5th of January. It will encompass speakers who will give us the knowledge of our economic health among other policy from a National, State, and local perspective, and what is being proposed to assist our business community now and into the future.
I personally wish all of you a Happy and Healthy holiday season. I am confident we will seize the opportunities presented to us to pivot, think collaboratively, and be creative to build positive momentum into 2021.
Best regards,
Alan Rubin
